Has anyone been streaming live TV using DLNA from the VMS1100 dvr?
I was in the middle of writing a long message asking if anyone has gotten anything to work, but I just succeeded in getting VLC to play local channels over DLNA from the VMS1100 dvr (See below.) I've heard that the PS3 can play all the channels because it supports DTCP-IP, but I'd like to know if there is anything else that works. (Windows, OSX, Android) I've heard that some BD playback software on the PC supports DTCP-IP, but I'm not going to buy it just to find out. The only android software I can find is all in Japanese, and may only work with Panasonic DVRs.
Anyone with a PS3 tried this recently?
I've tried:
Kodi on a FireTV: Nothing in the folders.
Sony BD player: Nothing in the folders.
LG TV: Folders fully populated, but won't play anything.
Here is what I had to do to get local channels to play in VLC:
First, make sure home sharing is turned on in your VMS1100 dvr. Otherwise, you won't see channels listed.
Next, open up VLC preferences, enable viewing of advanced preferences. Select Input/Codecs -> Demuxers -> MPEG-TS and uncheck "Trust in-stream PCR". If you don't uncheck this, all you get is a still frame.
Then in the main window (Make sure you are in playlist view), click on "Universal Plug'n'Play" your dvr should show up. If it doesn't, click on Network streams (SAP) and then back on Univeral Plug'n'Play. Your dvr should show up eventually. When it shows up, wait until there is an arrow/triangle in front of it. Once that shows up, expand it and you should see all the folders of channels.
Open up the folder with your locals, and try double clicking on a local channel. For some reason VLC would open the one below the one I selected. Still, it plays in full HD. If you are on Wifi, HD channels might choke your wifi. (1Mbyte/sec for SD, over 2Mbyte/sec for HD.)
