I've had a FIOS bundle for the last three years. My new customer pricing lasted two years and I got a loyalty credit for this past year that will be expiring in the next couple of months. I signed up for that Directv Now promo to get 3 months and an Apple TV. I haven't used it a ton yet and I don't have experience with any of the other providers out there. But so far, it seems pretty nice even though I see comments out there that some love it and some hate it.
For those that I have thought thought through this, what are some of the things that keep you with the Frontier TV package? The things I can think of so far is:
- Surround sound isn't available for live streams
- Picture quality isn't 100% consistent but usually pretty good
- Some people have noted reliability (I've heard of issue during March Madness or the Oscars)
- Lack of DVR (or the same functionality)
I've got both for the next three months so I should be able to see if it works for me...but curious on your thoughts...particularly if you decided to stick with Frontier TV. Some of these sacrifices seem like they could be worth the savings in our case if we change our viewing habits slightly.

2 missed installs
Two times now. GIven a 4 hour window for an install (8 am - noon) in Murrieta, Ca. Never mind that current ISP, Spectrum, gives a 1 hour window and keeps it. Both Frontier installs needed to be cancelled as tech did not show up by noon and I needed to go back to work. Just unbelievable and unprofessional. California Civil code 722 allows a small claims suit for up to $600 for a missed 4 hour window (for cable companies, utilities, etc..), maybe that will get Frontier's attention.

I have a VMS1100 main box in my Den. I have a IPC1100 in my bedroom. I also have a MEB1100 which connects from my wall to my ARRIS router.
I am wondering (if you look at my attachments) why the bedroom TV and the ONT shows it is not connected .
I can control the main TV with Alexa but cannot control the bedroom TV.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

[FIOS] Recommendations for North Texas?
I live in the Plano area and have been getting a lot of offers in the mail from Frontier. I currently have the 400MBx20MB Spectrum (Legacy TWC) tier at my home for roughly $95 a month. It works pretty solid most of the time but my only concern is with the upstream. I've noticed that Frontier is running a special for $40 a month for the 100MBx100MB tier but that you get a free upgrade to the 150MBx150MB tier at the same cost. My download speed would obviously go down by over half but my upstream would go up exponentially and my bill would be cut almost in half.
What say you current Frontier customers of North Texas?

FTTH in Danbury, CT area?
I've been asked to post here about a short meeting with a Frontier tech who was hanging some cable in front of my house. There were two trucks and they were unspooling and hanging some moderately large cable going down the street.
When I asked him what they were putting in he said we would have "Fiber To The Home" soon! I thought that sounded pretty nice! I'm on Comcast now but fiber would be a big draw for me.
Here is a pic of the loop on the pole outside my house. The gray box is the Comcast cable, the loop below that is the new Frontier cable.

[FIOS] Slow Download Speeds - Tampa Bay Area
Anyone else experiencing extremely slow download speeds in the Tampa Bay area this afternoon. Upload speeds appear to be fine but downloads speeds are at a crawl right now. I am in Pasco County on the 150/150 plan. Currently averaging about 3.5 Mbps down and 156 Mbps Up . Started noticing it around 3 PM

Frontier Line Monitor Group using OpenDNS Updater
Has anyone successfully used OpenDNS with the Line Monitor?
I have OpenDNS Updater installed on a Account with OpenDNS from years ago. I have my DNS set to the OpenDNS IP's and is reporting it is working. (208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220)
I see in the OpenDNS Updater Windows App that my IP has changed dozens of times in the "IP Updates History" in just the past day or so since hooking in.
I can seen my monitor page and can monitor as long as I input my current IP. But I do not understand how to sync opendns to the monitor other then to put my current IP into the Static field "Monitor this STATIC IP" /checkmarking "Dynamic IP"/ then inputting either the url or Ip of OpenDNS? There is no option to authenticate/Sync the monitor to Opendns. I know I am doing it wrong so figured I would ask here.

Arris NVG443B constantly dropping internet
Every single day at least 5 times a day my router drops internet. A reset fixes it for a short amount of time before it goes out again. I had Frontier come and check it out and upgrade my firmware but it hasn’t helped. If there’s are any numbers you’d like me to post to help you, please let me know.

Speed Upgrades in WV?
My Internet has been out for a week and Frontier support says its due to upgrades on the lines to increase Internet speeds. I already have 24 Mbps service. Are they adding faster residential packages in WV?

[TV] Are we ever going to get Cox (CBS-KIRO) back in the Seattle area?
So it seems like channel 7/507 (CBS - KIRO) has been completely removed from the programming guide in the Seattle area about a month ago. This would seem to indicate that things are not going well with the Cox negotiations.
When Frontier had a similar dispute with Sinclair a year and a half ago, they gave us free HBO while it took 2+ months to negotiate with Sinclair. This time around Frontier doesn't seem interested in doing anything for their customers that have lost access to CBS. At this point I'm needing to pay $10 a month for a CBS all-access pass to fill in the gap.
This may be the last straw for me with Frontier. Is anyone else getting frustrated?

[FIOS] MODEMS for FIOS - what do I need
Hello I am moving into an apartment here in Tampa. I came from cable but I don't think I'll be able to use that. unless it's spectrum. I am considering Frontier FIOS due to their 2 year price guarantee. I also have my own ASUS WRT-AC 3200 router that I prefer to use. Does frontier offer a modem device without the router portion or is there a place I can buy my own and when I sign up tell them to hook it up with my own (Customer) purchased model device. I will be sticking with Internet only and using online streaming for TV services.
On the flipside, I can't separate Frontier FIOS model/router combo, can I not use their router portion and use my own router?
I've had cable with this router also connected to a wifi extende. It worked well. As I've had cable before, Fiber is a little new to me.
Thanks everyone.

[Vantage] How to Determine Available Speeds (CT U-Verse)

[Vantage] Frontier Vantage Video Quality (CT U-Verse)
I saw Frontier's Vantage service the other day, and it somehow is *worse* than Comcast's over-compressed garbage. They have 5.9mbps per channel, how are they do bad at compressing that 5.9mbps looks far worse than Comcast's 3.8mbps? Comcast's picture doesn't have anything obviously wrong with it, until you see how much color and detail is just gone from the compression, but Frontier has excessive blocking, mosquito noise, and general nastiness all over the picture. I saw a picture of Robert Mueller on a news channel, and he looked like he was 120 years old, as the compression messed up the contours of his face.
How is Frontier this bad?

[FIOS] Alcatel I-211M-L ONT
So I got one of these about 6 months ago. Ever since I got it about every month or so it seems like my ethernet drops out and the link goes down. TV stays fine. It always requires a reboot of the ONT to get it back online. This is starting to get annoying. This is my third ONT and by far the most painful.
Another annoyance with this ONT is apparently the TV signal comes in via moca, even if I don't use moca, so when I call for a problem most techs will see I'm on ethernet and turn my moca off thinking it was turned on by mistake. BOOM! TV goes out. Anyone else find these ONTs annoying?
I almost want to request my old Motorola 1000GT back, but they say those are being phased out. I liked that one a lot better, a lot less problems. :(

[Vantage] Help with Arris nvg443b bridge mode?
I'm hoping that some of the knowledgeable folks on this site can help me with instructions on setting the Arris nvg443b that Frontier provided with their 90/8 service into bridge mode so that I can use my own DD-WRT router?? AND/OR could someone possibly recommend a Bonded VDSL modem that's compatible with Frontier?? Frontier doesn't seem to have any knowledgeable people that can, or will, help with this. I've searched the Web thoroughly and have come up empty. The only setting on the router that I've found that sounds remotely related is Cascaded Router?? Thank you very much, in advance, for your assistance.
