I was reviewing my Frontier FIOS bill, to see if i could renew and save a little cash somewhere.
I looked into TIVO, and maybe i'm doing it wrong, but it would take 35 month just to break even. Let's round it up to 36 and call it 3 years.
Frontier FIOS Quantum (6channel) DVR with 2 extra boxes
$49.99 monthly @ $49.99 (DVR + 2 extra boxes), TV and Internet stay the same with either setup.
$1799.64 for 3 years
TIVO Bolt+ 3TB (6channel) with 2 Tivo Minis
$1884.92 for 3 years (includes $14.97 a month for 3 cable cards)
Even after 3 years, assuming all other prices stay the same it wouldn't break even. Am i looking at this the wrong way?
And 3 years is a long time for whatever else comes down the pipe in terms of technology.
I would cut my TV service entirely, but i have older family members living with me, and you couldn't pay me enough to teach them all how to gets shows from the Internet, Hulu, Netflix or whatever else.
