Hello everyone, I want to share my story with all of you because I feel like it is completely necessary because a lot of you have been experiencing internet issues, just like I was, and need some help on how to fix it. Let me be the first one to tell you that if you're experiencing slow internet speeds, it's most likely not something Tech Support, or someone from Customer Service can fix. Here's the process of what you can do to help fix your speed: Change Your Channel: login to your router -- enter 192.168.1.254 into your web browser where you could type a website address Click on Home Network > Wireless > change your wireless channel (Go through each channel and run a speed test for it on speedtest.net) Put your NVG589 in Bridge Mode -- THIS IS WHAT I DID We are subscribed to the higher internet package at my house with 45mbs download and 5mbs upload. Even with this package, our internet struggled to move over 15mbs download. I did some research and found out that the unit they provide you (NVG589) struggles to do any speeds over 17mbs download so you will NEVER achieve the speed you pay for. Most people won't even bother to look into this, but you are getting ripped off by using their equipment. Makes me wonder if that was the reason why AT&T sold it to Frontier in CT. After further research, I discovered that others were having the same problem as me, and that one possible solution was to put the Frontier NVG589 into 'bridge mode'. What this does is essentially make the NVG589 not supply wireless internet. Instead, you plug your own router into the NVG 589 and receive your wireless internet through your own personal router, which uses the initial connection form the NVG589. Personal routers are much better quality, safer, and significantly faster than the Frontier supplied NVG589. After following the steps to put the NVG589 in bridge mode, I was able to plug my Netgear n600 router into it and achieve 39-42 mbps download, CONSISTENTLY!!! Use this link to put the NVG589 into bridge mode, don't get intimidated if you aren't good with this stuff, you can do it. http://www.shofkom.com/2015/02/10/how-to-put-att-u-verses-motorola-nvg589-in-bridge-mode/ **Make sure you get a router that supports 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Use your important devices on the 5ghz band. If you have any additional questions feel free to message me. I hope this helps someone.
