Hi All. I've been on Verizon FIOS in SoCal for a million years and have always loved the service. I've had 75/75 for the past couple years and even on wifi, I usually would pull 85/85. That all changed after the Frontier take over. I don't think it's on Frontier's end for the most part, as I notice the number of networks in my neighborhood on channels 1,6,11 has quadrupled and my speeds now fluctuate between 50-60. I used to be able to go on channel 9 and get the 85/85 still but even that no longer works. I notice the difference. The wired connection still pulls 85/85.
I only see 1 or 2 routers in my area on 5Ghz. I just upgraded to 150/150 because I knew that by doing this, they'll have to upgrade the router and apparently come out and change the ONT.
I know nobody is a psychic, but my thinking is that this should result in faster speeds simply because of the doubling of broadband speed and less interference by going on the higher band. It only increased my bill by 10 bucks.
Any thoughts or anybody else do something similar? Thanks!
