Hey there,
When I started my service back in January it took about 2 months to have a Fios tech come out and install my ONT (the fiber cable was already in.) They were backed up due to "demand" and then about a month in the terrible wind storm happened which I guess did a lot of damage to their copper lines or something...
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out if that's atypical to install an outdoor ONT inside, it's ugly and gray. I'm thinking either it was because the tech didn't have indoor units on hand, the support for HPNA or just didn't care.
What are your thoughts?
Separate:
Also, I purchased my own router with DD-WRT, is it recommended to clone my prior frontier modem MAC or even the ONT? I get a lot of intermittent packet loss here in Everett WA, the service has been really undependable. I had a tech come out and all they did was install the CAT6 patch cord and told me to buy a new router. (I did and it didn't help.) (Supposedly they've had issues with the revision of router they gave me.)
Last night I actually had to dismount the ONT which was a nightmare. (To insulate the outlet behind which let cigarette smoke circulate from a neighbor into my apartment.) (Security Hexs  ) to get to the wall mount screws...) While I was at it I blew some pressurized air onto the fiber optic cable for posterity, haven't had any packet loss since the day before last. (Probably placebo.)
When I have issues with my connection generally speaking tracerts show issues with frontier backbones in WA and a month ago the big issue was california... I check the scheduled maintenance dates in WA which seem to coincide with my latency issues and packet loss but support denies that there is any problem and always insists a tech must come out to waste my time and theirs, they all agree it's congestion. (Even after doing everything they said I still have the problem.
To be clear I'm on Frontier Fios 30/30 in Everett, WA.
