I was in a chat today about the router fee not dropping from my bill... while I was chatting I asked about upgrading my 500/500 to gigabit and they said $74.99/month plus taxes. I asked about it not being $10 more a month (which I thought it was based on what I've heard from others) and they said that was available too but they suggested "the Simply FiOS Gig Service $74.99 per month before taxes so you will get the provisioned speed." I asked "So I won't get the provisioned speed for an additional $10?" They said "It will be less than 80% for the Gig service speed." I asked "What speed is it?" They said "That's 940/880 Mbps". I asked "And what speed is the $74.99 per month speed?" They said "Simply FiOS Gig Service $74.99 , that's 940/880 Mbps. The additional $10 is less than 80% for 940/880M. If you want, I can still process it for the additional $10."
What the heck were they talking about "get the provisioned speed" and "It will be less than 80% for the Gig service speed"? Were they just trying to get me to pay more by going with the $74.99 price instead of $10 more than what I'm paying now? Or did I not understand something?
