This is really an extension of my post regarding increasing our speed from 100/100 to 500/500. For context, we have a one level house. The router location is central, but to get to the master bedroom, it has to go through 3 walls. We have a cable outlet in the den, which is next to the master.
Under our 100/100 scheme, I purchased a second MI424WR and using instructions likely found here, set it in bridge mode. The result of was I had one SSID with a great signal anywhere in the house. I'd like to replicate that.
In my new install, I got the Arris NVG468MQ. To replicate my past setup, I think I have three options:
1. Purchase another NVG468MQ and put it in bridge mode. The down side is that there are reports this is a pain to do. The up side is the this router is likely the least expensive of the three options.
2. Purchase a G1100 and put it in bridge mode. The only down side is that this is a bit more expensive.
3. Purchase a mesh system. This is clearly the most expensive option and will require some level of research to ensure I purchase a mesh system that can reach the speeds I need. The up side is that this may be the most future proof option.
Lastly, I'm at the point in life and busy-ness in life that just want sh*t to work. I don't mind putting in some labor on the front end, but I loved the MI424 system because it just worked, once set up.
Any advice on what direction to go would be most appreciated, even if that is an option 4 that I haven't identified.
