[FIOS] Thinking of switching from Comcast to Frontier Fios (OR)

When I first moved in Fios wasn't available even though it was across the street so I was stuck with Comcast. I pay $72.60 a month for up to 60 Mbps with basic TV (lowest tier ~30 channels) which includes all the fees. I only wanted internet but at my most recent renewal, it was cheaper (even with fees) to go the 2-Play route than get internet-only especially since they aren't charging me for the cable box (which is still boxed up never used). I looked at the $29.99 deal for 50/50 but for $39.99 I get 200/200; pretty much a no brainer. I put in an order for installation for the end of the month and started looking around for a new router. I took a look at my order confirmation yesterday and saw that there were things that I was not expecting. There's a 20.99 a month fee for some security bundle that I never requested, a $10 a month fee for a router as well as a $9.99 fee to ship said router to the tech; no installation fee. I contacted Frontier via chat and they said I needed to call to get the security bundle removed but that the router shipping fee & monthly router fee are mandatory. I read through the posts here and saw that for current customers and ones not on a contract you usually can get it waived (per month or permanently) but YMMV for new customers. The questions I have are as follows: Is adding strange services normal & should I expect that going forward? I live in new construction housing that has never had FIOS so an ONT will need to be installed, what is included in the installation? If I use my own router (but still pay the monthly "fee" due to it being part of the deal) do I still have to pay the shipping cost? Can I use my own router(s) & not pay either fee? Based on my experience, having the edge be both Router and WAP, is not a good idea performance/security and I would like to separate them out. What are the recommended routers (non-wireless) for the 200/200 speeds with the ability to do SQM QoS? Taking out the sketchy security fee, it's ~$53.98 a month for faster than what I get now; I actually even the 50/50 tier at $43.98 is faster & cheaper than what I get now. I just don't understand the principle of paying for something that I don't have. If they call it the ONT fee or some other fee, fine, but a router fee makes no sense.
