Just moved to a new apartment complex that only supports Frontier so I signed up for FiOS and a tech came by today to set everything up. I’m somewhat computer savvy but I know pretty much nothing about how internet wiring works other than how to plug in a modem and router. My first concern is that my apartment is wired with Cat 5 RJ45 jacks in every room and the tech plugged an RJ11 connector into the RJ45 jack which then goes to the DSL jack on the router/modem. There’s a lot of play in the connection to the wall as it’s clearly a different sized connector. Initially the internet was slow but functional however after going to dinner and coming back there is no connection to the internet whatsoever at the router. I logged into the router config page on my computer and it indicated that the WAN link is down. I have checked that all the wires are plugged in securely and I have reset the router multiple times to no avail. I will be contacting frontier in the morning however the whole situation just seems odd and I’m wondering if my internet problems are being caused by poor installation. Any help or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.
