All,
i have Frontier coming to install a DSL to my house.. I am not looking fwd to pay $10/mo for a router.
I have at least 2 netgear (frontier) routers lying around, I also have a dd-wrt (old Linksys WRT51) and Ubiquiti EdgeRouter that I could use,
Currently the EdgeRouter is setup to load-balance between all wired connections (including old Frontier DSL which is dead).
Lastly, I could utilize TP-LINK TL-R470T+ Load Balance Broadband Router, which turned out not very good as a load balancing router (weak healthchecks), but OK otherwise.
I guess the question is, should I just opt-in to use the netgear router, or is there another simply/reliable option based on what I have.
The netgear seemed to work OK at my home, but horribly at another location I have nearby. Frontier's latest router/modem seems to work a LOT better, and I really need maximum reliability/stability for work, but would still avoid paying $10/mo for life.
Also, how much time will I have to optout of the 'lease'?
Thanks in advance.
