Bridge mode issues

Way back I asked about ways to remove the Actiontec router from my network. My options were a) pay Frontier to come out and switch the ONT to Ethernet. b) switch the Actiontec into bridge mode. This seemed cheaper overall, and less hassle, as I could use the Actiontec with the coax connection to talk to the ONT and then have it bridge to my Google OnHub router to take care of DHCP, WiFi and whatnot. I tried following the steps outlined in http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r17679150-How-to-make-ActionTec-MI424-WR-a-network-bridge but I'm running into a few difficulties. I tried two different ways - from "current" state where the OnHub is in bridge mode - from factory reset where the OnHub isn't initially connected In neither state could I manage to get any Internet access after configuring the Actiontec in Bridge mode. The orange WAN light on the Actiontec stays orange. but I just don't seem to get any further. One thing I did notice that may be indicative is that one time after doing a factory reset from bridge mode, the actiontec didn't get a connection to frontier for more than 20 minutes. So I'm wondering if perhaps I'm just a tad hasty and after switching to Bridge mode I should wait for 30 minutes or so for the OnHub to get an IP Address from Frontier?
