I finally replaced my Westell utraline 9100 relic router with a refurbished G1100. Plug and play. Found the network quickly. Guide and vod guides working. WIFI light is on. So its working
I did a hard reset to set the G1100 to default. The light turned red and it took about 1 or 2 minutes to go from flashing white to back on line. So no doubt I reset it.
Of course it was to good to be true not to have any problems. I can't log into the router because its not accepting the admn password clearly seen as the other passwords on the lower side of the router. the log in page for this router (192.168.1.1) still says Verizon on the top. Same withe the old Westell router log in.
Calling tech support didn't want to help because they said that if I didn't buy the router through Frontier they couldn't help. The standard bull Verizon likes to pull too. I finally got the agent to check that the greenwave 1100 is even listed on the Frontier site as current supported router.
He had no idea how to clear or reset the admin password if its not the default on the router. I guess if I can't get into admin password I will return this. His best idea was to try and log in myfiosgateway.com which simply takes ya to a search page with a few links.
Back to the old workhorse Ultraline. Old but has never ever failed me however it is very limited on wifi coverage. My service is 75/75. I never really bothered with replacement because 90% of my use is hard wired. I don't pay any monthly rental so it was easy to forget about.
