D2200D Wireless Router - Remote Logging and Custom Firewall Rules?

1.) What's the purpose of the "Remote Logging" found in the D2200D admin interface in the "Security Log Settings?" I'd like to find a way to log everything that happens on the router without it being lost due to anything that either Frontier or anything else might be responsible for. (I've had some weird situations come up where I'd sporadically lose connectivity and wouldn't be able to access the admin interface only to reset the router and find that the firewall log lost everything back to January 1st entries, making me worry that it might be getting manually-erased by an attacker.) 2.) Would anyone have a good set of firewall rules I could use for a custom firewall rules starting point? My primary activities boil down to surfing the net and occasionally remoting into my web host via WinSCP. I stream music in VLC mostly from 181FM and I sometimes check for Windows updates with the system clock (I think) doing an update every so often... That's about it. I really want to lock this router down tight, so are there any guides anywhere for applying custom firewall configurations to the D2200D? I think I can probably figure it out with a little time and effort but I thought I'd ask in case anything already exists that could save me some time and hair loss. Thanks in advance.
