My FiOS connection went down hard about an hour ago. This was the first time I have had to contact Frontier support for a technical issue, and my God, while the representative tried to be helpful, she came across as absolutely clueless. We went through all the requisite steps that I no longer even bother to tell people I've already done, such as rebooting the router. She wasn't able to get a response from the router, so she asked me to plug my laptop directly into the WAN cable, then told me nevermind, there is an outage in the 442 area code (I am in the 951 area code). She thought that was very odd, put me on hold, and then assured me that other people in my area were calling in as we spoke. 442 is an area about 60 miles north of me, so it's feasible that I'm just lumped in with that region for the purpose of their account numbers. Either way, I hung up with less confidence in a resolution than I had when I first got on the phone, and it wasn't that high to begin with.
